After a wonderful (dry) nights stay at Blood Mountain Cabins we braved the rain and ventured out to where we left off at Woody Gap. With a goal to hike to Lance Creek Shelter, once we got there we were feeling great, the rain had stopped, so we decided to keep going over Blood Mountain to Neel Gap.
What a great decision that was! We were rewarded with perfect weather and awesome views, from the highest mountain on the AT in Georgia.
Blood Mountain climbs were not too hard but it did have large slabs of rock to walk up that were worrying considering how wet they were. Surprisingly and thankfully they were quite grippy.
